Approach
How a project runs.
Three of us work from a ground-floor studio on the Kloosterstraat. We take on six to eight projects a year, so one of us is on every site each week.
-
First visit
We come to the house for two hours, measure, take photographs and listen. You get a short note and a fee proposal within a week.
-
Concept
A plan of every room, a board of real samples and a first budget. We change it with you until it is right, usually in two meetings.
-
Drawings
Joinery, lighting and finishes drawn for the builder, and quotes from two or three contractors we have worked with before.
-
On site
We run the work, order the furniture and fabrics, and dress the rooms on the last day, down to the lamps and the bed linen.
Few materials, chosen slowly.
Lime plaster, oiled oak, linen, wool and stone. They cost a little more than paint and laminate, and they look better at ten years than at one.
We buy from makers in Flanders and the north of France where we can, and reuse what you already own wherever it fits.
Fees.
Fixed after the first visit and written into the proposal. Furniture and materials are bought at trade price and passed on without a margin.
