Fjell

A family farm
at 640 metres

Marko and Ana live in the farmhouse at the bottom of the meadow. Tina and Luka grew up here and came back to run the cabins with them.

Hay meadow
since 1962

Marko's grandfather bought the meadow in 1962 for hay and twelve cows. The cows went in 2009; we still cut the hay every July, around the cabins.

Marko built the first cabin, Macesen, in 2014, from larch felled on our slope and dried for two winters in the barn. Jelka, the sixth, was finished in 2021. He did the carpentry; a local roofer laid the metal.

We let them ourselves, with no agency and no booking site, so the price you see is the price you pay and the person who answers your email is the one who lights the sauna.

The valley

Bohinj is the quiet end of the Julian Alps: a glacial lake four kilometres long, the Sava Bohinjka running out of it, and Triglav National Park on three sides.

Cross-country skiing on the track below the farm, downhill at Vogel, and ski touring with Tina when the snow is settled.

    April and May

The Savica waterfall at its fullest, wild garlic in the forest, and the meadow white with narcissus in late May.

  • Summer

    June to August

Swimming and paddling on the lake, the two-day walk up to the Triglav lakes, and long evenings on the deck.

  • Autumn

    September to November

The cows come down from the high pastures in September, the larches turn gold in October, and the trails empty.
