The lid

Read the heat through the knob.

A dial under the knob reads the water. Take it off the hob at 93°C for filter coffee, 85°C for black tea from a pot, 80°C for green tea.

How it is made.

Four kettle bodies on a steel bench in the workshop, before their spouts and handles
  1. 01

    Spun

A disc of steel is spun on a lathe over a wooden form until it is a cone, then trimmed and rolled at the rim.

  2. 02

    Coated

The body is blasted, powder coated and baked at 200°C. The coat takes a scourer and a dishwasher.

  3. 03

    Fitted

The base is pressed on, the spout welded and the handle screwed to its collar. Each kettle is boiled once before it is boxed.
