Moss
The workbench in our studio with bottles waiting to be filled

Started at a kitchen table in 2017. Still three people and one room.

Ines Wren made the first camelina oil for her own dry skin, in a saucepan, from seed oil she bought by the gallon. Friends asked for bottles, then their friends did, and by the second winter she was selling them at the Port Townsend farmers market on Saturdays.

Her brother Tomas joined to handle the orders, and in 2020 they rented the back room of a former print shop on Water Street. The oil, the toner, the cleansing gel and the day cream are all made there, in batches of about 300.

We have kept the range small on purpose. A new formula takes us a year to settle, and we would rather sell four things we use every day than twenty we don't.

What we won't do

  1. No. 1

    Add fragrance

What you smell is the calendula or the oat, and nothing on top.

  2. No. 2

    Test on animals

Not the formulas, not the ingredients, and not through a supplier.

  3. No. 3

    Wrap it in plastic

Glass, aluminum and paper boxes. The tube is the one exception, and we take it back.

  4. No. 4

    Discount the growers

We agree prices with the farms before each harvest and pay them in full.
