About us

Two people and a workshop in Lyon.

Claire draws the shells and casts them. Malik builds the electronics and tunes each speaker. Between us we make about three hundred a year.

How a One is made

  1. 01

We pour liquid porcelain from Limoges into a plaster mould, let it set for an hour and leave the shell to dry for a week.

  2. 02

The shell is fired twice, the second time under its glaze at 1,380 °C. About one in eight cracks in the kiln, and we break it up for the next batch of plaster.

  3. 03

Malik fits the drivers, the amplifier and the brass or steel ring, then lines the inside with wool felt.

  4. 04

Every speaker is measured and then played for an hour in the listening room before it is boxed and sent.

Repairs

We fix every speaker we have made.

The warranty is ten years. After that, send it back and we replace a driver or an amplifier at cost. A chipped shell can be reglazed for €180.
