Four people, one chair, and no hurry.

A chair on the workbench, before its leather

Why only one chair.

We started in 2019 with a mould, a press and a drawing of a chair we wanted to sit in. Five years later it is still the only thing we make.

Making one shape lets us make it well: the veneer is chosen sheet by sheet, the shell rests a week before it is sanded, and the leather is cut and stitched for each shell.

Nine days, three pairs of hands.

  1. Days 1 to 2

    Pressed

Nine sheets of veneer are glued and pressed into the mould, where they set overnight.

  2. Days 3 to 7

    Sanded

The shell is trimmed, sanded by hand in four grades and oiled three times.

  3. Days 8 to 9

    Stitched

The two pads are cut from one hide, stitched over felt and fitted to the shell.
