Fairpage vs Squarespace
A business suite, or a website

Stay on Squarespace when the site sells, takes bookings or sends invoices. Move to Fairpage when it says who you are and shows your work: 3 pages for $29 a year, or up to 1,000 for $99, changed by asking and kept in your own files.

Move to

Fairpage

  • The site shows your work

Lite is 3 pages for $29 a year; Plus holds up to 1,000 for $99.

  • You would rather ask than arrange blocks

Select part of a page and say what should change: its words, layout, colours or fonts.

  • One page for every screen

Each page adapts to phones and desktops; there is no second layout to arrange.

  • You want your files

The owner can ask for the whole site as files. Squarespace exports pages for WordPress only.

What changes when you move

Ask for the change, on every screen

Squarespace’s Fluid Engine lets any block go anywhere on its grid, and the phone layout follows the desktop’s or can be arranged apart. Every 7.1 template is the same template underneath; a site changes its look in Site Styles, not by switching.

On Fairpage you select part of a page and change its text, swap a photo, or ask for what you want in words, from a new heading to a new layout. Each page is one responsive page, so it holds together on a phone too. On Lite a change uses the site’s own colours and fonts, with no one-off values.

Your site, in your own files

Squarespace exports one file for WordPress. It leaves out the styles, portfolio, album and store pages, video and audio, and it cannot be imported into another Squarespace site.

A Fairpage site is files from the start: its owner can ask for its pages, styleguide, lists and every photo as one zip.

Moving from Squarespace

Your Squarespace site stays online until you move the domain.

  1. 1

    Paste your site’s address

In New site, Fairpage reads the pages, the blog and the photos, and shows what it will make before it starts.

  2. 2

    Check the pages

Each page keeps its address, the blog becomes a list in Content on Plus, and old links redirect.

  3. 3

    Point your domain

Add it in the site’s settings and set the records Fairpage shows. Then end the Squarespace plan.
