Moving a site in
Bringing a site from WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, Framer or Carrd into Fairpage, with its old addresses kept working.
- Start it from Your current site on a new site's start page, or from Move a site here in the site's Settings, General. The site's owner and its builders start it.
- Give the old site's address. Fairpage reads its pages, the ones its sitemap lists and the ones they link to, as a crawler named FairpageImport. It does not read a site behind a password, an address that is not https, or what the site's robots.txt keeps crawlers out of.
- A WordPress site's posts come from its own API, and a Shopify store's products from its products list. For every post, add the export file: WordPress's and Squarespace's export (.xml), or a collection's CSV from Webflow or Framer, or Shopify's products CSV. Posts and products on other platforms come from their pages.
- Before anything changes, the page shows the estimate: the pages the AI builds, the posts and products that become a collection, the pictures, and about how many AI credits it takes. When the plan cannot hold it (Lite holds 3 pages and has no collections) or the credits are short, it says so and links to Plan & billing.
- Move it in builds the draft: the pictures are copied into the site's media, posts and products become rows with a page each, and the AI builds each page in the site's styles from the old page's words, the home page and the menu first. On a site that has work in it, the draft's pages, layout and styleguide are replaced; its collections and uploads stay. The editor waits while it runs, which takes a few minutes for a small site. Stop after this page ends it early.
- The report lists every old address: kept as it was, sent on to its new
address (
/about.htmlto/about), or left out and why. The tracking ids it found go in Integrations; forms are on their pages, to check where each one sends. - Nothing is live until Publish. Once it is, point the domain at Fairpage and submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console.
