Overview, Editor and Content
The three places a site is run from, and what each one holds.
- Overview is the site's home: whether it is live, who works on it, and a picture of the home page that opens the editor. Under them: what is left to put it online; Needs attention, with a button for each thing that waits (changes to publish, a trial or plan ending, AI credits running low, form entries that were not delivered, invitations not accepted, no domain of its own, which Not now puts away); Analytics; the Inbox, the latest entries of the site's forms; Recent changes, a sitting's changes by one person in one row, with All changes opening History in the editor; and Support, your requests to Fairpage about the site.
- Settings, the gear at the top of the Overview, has Members, Domains, Plan & billing, Integrations, Command line for those who build the site, and General for its owner (handing the site over, deleting it).
- Editor shows the site's pages as visitors see them. Click a
text to change it in place; Enter starts a new line, and ⌘Enter
(Ctrl+Enter), Escape or a click anywhere else ends the edit, keeping it.
An entry's own words, such as a post's title and body, are typed into
with one click and saved as you type ("Saving…", "Saved" at the top);
in its title Enter goes on to the next field. In a post's body:
##makes a heading,-or1.a list,>a quote, and**bold**and*italic*format as you type;- selected words get a bar for bold, italic, a link, headings and a quote, and ✦ to rewrite them shorter, clearer or simpler, which you Keep (Tab) or Discard (Esc);
- the + beside an empty line adds a picture or a divider. Drop or paste a picture into its place, upload one, or Choose or generate… in the panel. A picture in the text has Replace, its width, a Caption and Remove. Select an element to get its toolbar, which starts with what it is (Heading 1 is the page's main heading, Heading 2 to 6 the ones under it): AI, move up or down, duplicate, delete, and for a picture Replace, for a link Go to page, for an entry Edit.
- The top bar has the page switcher (every page, and each collection's entries by name, found by typing), whose last line, Pages and menus, opens the menus, addresses and page descriptions; Style (the site's colours and fonts), History, Undo, a phone view, and the site's mode: Start a draft, or Discard and Publish.
- Content opens on Pages: the site's pages and menus. Under them are its collections, such as events or posts, each listing its entries (New adds one), and its forms' entries. New collection lists what the pages repeat, such as classes, a team or prices. Pick one, or ask the AI bar for one ("keep the prices") or for something the site does not have yet ("a blog"), and the AI proposes how to keep it, with the first entry filled in and the section as it looks beside it. Rename a field by typing over its name, leave one off with ×, or ask the AI bar for anything else, then Set up has it keep them in Content and change the page to show them, in the draft until you publish. Each step uses AI credits. On Lite it offers the owner a 14-day Plus trial first.
- A site on Lite has up to three pages and one form, and no collections of its own; the form's entries are kept in Content all the same. Plus holds up to 1,000 pages and 100,000 entries, with no limit on collections or forms.
- Search engines, at the top of Pages and menus, lists what search results and shared links would get wrong on the draft: a page with no title or description, one with the same title as another, a title or description longer than results show, no Heading 1 or more than one, a picture with no description, a link to a page that is not there, a page no link reaches, entries with no description. Each has a button to where it is fixed. Write what is missing with AI writes the missing titles, descriptions and picture descriptions; nothing is saved until Take it. A page's settings show its search result and have Write with AI too. Each suggestion uses AI credits, as Fix with AI does.
